Duo sign for Ajax

Ajax Cape Town has made two new signing in an effort to bolster their squad for the rest of season.

Chad Harpur and Romain Carbonnier joined the club on two and a half year deals which means the pair will be at the club until 2011.

Harpur has been playing for Scottish club Kilmarnock where as Carbonnier comes from Ajaccio.

Goalkeeper Harper has also played for other English clubs like Leeds United and Millwall. He also had stints at local clubs Manning Rangers and Maritzburg United.

Ajax pro Shooz Mekuto said he hoped Harpur would take the team to new heights.

"With Sean Roberts out for possibly the rest of the season we thought that Chad Harpur who played for two different teams in the league would be able to fill the void and also take us to the next level," he said.

The 22-year-old French striker's addition to the side could be the boost they need up front and Mekuto has given Carbonnier his full backing.

"He is a striker by trade, he looked very promising. He has been with us for the last month doing trials and I think the club has made the right decision," he said.
