Troy Brown Retires: True Meaning of Franchise Player
Troy Brown epitomizes what every team looks for in a player. 15 seasons of hard work all with the same team. Brown was a Patriot from the beginning of his career all the way to the end. Troy Brown hangs up the #80 jersey as the Patriots all-time catch leader and one pro bowl.
Troy Brown was a gifted receiver who was a consistent target for both Drew Bledsoe and Tom Brady. Both of these quarterbacks knew how reliable and talented Troy was. He was not the loud, cocky, and obnoxious wide receiver we are used to seeing, he was quiet, humble, and let his play on the field speak for him type guy. He was a team leader and motivator all throughout his career. Brown was so good he played on offense, defense, and special teams. He was a great kick and punt returner for many years. Troy Brown was all about team first. This was apparent in 2004 when the Pats lost so many DBs, Troy was forced to play cornerback. He played CB for 12 games and had three interceptions. He i! s the definition of a 2-way player. Troy Brown was not flashy, he just did his job the best he could. He did not fill the highlight reels, but always had solid games. You would look at the stat sheet and be shocked by how many catches he had. Troy is not a big guy, in fact he is very small. This never stopped Brown, if anyone took him lightly he would make them pay. Troy was the hardest worker on the team and made everyone around him work harder as well. The coaches, teammates, opponents, referees, fans, everyone loves Troy Brown. He never gave anyone a reason to dislike him. Troy Brown was there for all 3 Super Bowl victories for New England and the Pats know they could not have won without Troy. Troy Brown is the true meaning of franchise player. Brown played his entire career with one team, always had a positive and winning attitude, performed solidly in every game he played, and always had the huge smile across his face. I know New England fans appreciate all! he did, but I hope football fans appreciate all this man did ! for the game. He played the game right throughout his entire career, something most players cannot say. Troy immediately after his press conference signed on with Comcast Sportsnet New England to be an analyst. I am 100% sure Troy will be great at this as well.
